Bio
Coach R.J. played soccer for 10 years and was a college athlete. Coach believes that developing players commitment, athleticism, skills and soccer intelligence is priority #1 over winning in the short term. Coach believes that it is not only possible, but required, to compete at the highest level while carrying a high bar of integrity and respect to those around us. Our coaching staff shows respect to the players and we demand that respect in return from players and parents in regards to our teammates and parents as well as the opponents and officials. The result is a competitive atmosphere that really truly is fun and supportive to all. A negative sideline will not be tolerated, on either side of the field.
Our 09 boys have made amazing progress in the past 4 years. Climbing through WSSL Select to MSPSP Premier. Both teams are having successful seasons and leading their divisions (P3 & Classic II). We have now played in 3 years of state cup going 2-1-1 this past year missing the quarterfinals by 1:40. We look forward to the 2023-2024 season where we expect to have two teams again.
Come join our soccer family, great players, great families, great competition.

I have played soccer from age 5 through high school for the city of Garden City, soccer clubs such as Garden City Mustangs and Westland Warriors, as well as the for GC High School team. I continued through my adult years playing for fun and indoor soccer leagues. I volunteered to coach for my daughter’s Garden City U8 team. I believed early on that every child should have the opportunity to play and enjoy soccer, regardless of their ability level, experience, or financial situation. I have been coaching for 2 years, including indoor sessions. I find coaching rewarding and want to share my love for this incredible sport.
The vision for the team is to compete at the highest level while creating a fun, learning atmosphere. We will participant in tournaments, and indoor sessions during the off-season. I plan to continue to seek out sponsorship, training/clinics, and fundraising for the team. I have met an amazing bunch of girls and parents and look forward to continuing my journey.

I have coached multiple teams over the years starting in 2005 – present. I started as a U7 rec girls coach, coaching my oldest daughter Chelsea until she was U10. My coaching continued to my middle daughter Karis from U5-U11 rec and now I’m coaching my youngest Kayla which started at U5 rec. Starting in 2018(U12) I decided to take Kayla’s team to the select level.
I live in Garden City with my wife and 3 daughters. Soccer is pretty much our life, especially with all 3 playing at the same time. Our oldest daughter Chelsea, who made her varsity team as a sophomore and became a captain her senior year of high school, is now a senior in college. She played 1 year of college before she decided to hang up her cleats. Our daughter Karis who also made her varsity team as a sophomore will be playing her senior season starting 2020/21. Kayla, who will be in the 8th grade, vows to make varsity as a freshman to beat her sisters. Player development is very important to me. For a player to be successful, I believe sound technique and good footwork is where it starts. I believe it’s all about the team and playing the right way. I love soccer and coaching it. I believe no one player is bigger than the team. One of my favorite sayings to the team is “we win as a team, we lose as a team, we run as a team”.
